Having begun in 1876 as S.T Cooper & Sons, the company that would become Jockey International, Inc. rose to international popularity in the 1930s and 40s as the world was drawn to American icons and styles. Along with movies, automobiles, and skyscrapers, there was fascination with the revolutionary Jockey® short – a completely new style of underwear inspired by a French postcard showing a man in bikini style swimwear.

Initially Jockey crossed international borders in advertising, particularly with ads in Life magazine, which launched with great success in 1936. Life attracted readers throughout the world and it wasn’t long before sales of Jockey® product were taking place in Canada, throughout Europe, India, the Philippines, and Australia. By the mid-1950s, the Jockey® brand was offered in so many markets around the world that the company launched a global marketing campaign themed “An international favorite” – a unique claim that only Jockey could make. Recognizing the importance of the Jockey® name and its significant international presence, the company officially changed its name in 1972 to Jockey International, Inc.

Jockey got its start back in 1876 when Samuel T. Cooper established a small hosiery business in the Middle West of America, also known as the heartland. Since then, Jockey has grown to offer many types of products – including underwear, activewear, loungewear and sportswear – and become a beloved brand across the world.
The USA Originals collection pays tribute to Jockey’s roots and takes inspiration from traditional American colors, textures and icons. The classic but contemporary styles combine unique labels, embroidery and prints to evoke a rich sense of Jockey heritage and American culture.

‘Show You’re Jockey’ is about to become another classic in the mold of Jockey’s brave, boundary-pushing campaigns throughout the last century! Using both men and women having playful fun – dropping their outerwear or showing just their waistband – we are communicating a personality for the brand that is positive, upbeat and pure Jockey. It unites millions of Jockey fans across the globe, from London to Bangkok, with the simple message that they’re all proud to show they’re Jockey. ‘Show You’re Jockey’ has come alive through an advertising campaign incorporating online activity, print ads, billboards and co-ordinated in-store promotion showing a variety of men and women from different nationalities confidently revealing their Jockey underwear.
